#ElectionWatch Desk

ABOUT THE PROJECT

To establish the “Election Watch Desk” to provide a platform to generate and distribute content on issues affecting elections for multiple audiences and coordinate civil society activity in the run up to the 2019 National Elections.

ACHIEVEMENTS/PROJECT ROLE OUT/ACTIVITES TO DATE

  • The election watch desk started off by working with the KZN Christian Council (KZNCC) in the build up to the latter’s election launch with various civil society organisations from across the country.
  • The Desk is collating material for “A Voters Guide”. This booklet will be circulated to all OSF-SA election partners to print and distribute.
  • The Desk is reviewing the Violence Monitoring tool used by OSF-SA partners in KwaZulu-Natal with the view to release an updated version to collect information on incidents that have potential to spark violence, or those incidents that are violent in nature and threaten the viability of smooth running elections in some places.
  • The Desk has led in the facilitation and reporting back of two important meetings on elections and democracy, one led by My Vote Counts and the other, KZNCC.
